O130 Transarterial chemoembolization in rectal cancer: a systematic review

چکیده
Abstract Background Locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC) is typically treated with neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy. Response can be unpredictable, 8-20% of patients achieving complete pathological response, whilst 20-30% have no response or progression. Transarterial chemoembolisation (TACE) established as a non-surgical option to treat colorectal liver metastases by delivering chemotherapy and an embolic agent via its primary arterial supply. This allows for reduction in systemic toxicity higher doses tumours. There been trials TACE LARC, but role therapeutic modality still unknown. Therefore, this review aims assess existing evidence LARC whether it warrants further investigation treatment. Methods A systematic literature search was performed according Preferred Reporting Items Systematic Reviews Meta-Analyses. Databases searched included PubMed, Scopus Web Science. Risk bias assessed using the Newcastle-Ottawa scale. The outcomes objective rate, complications, recurrence, disease-free overall survival. Results Five reports were considered inclusion. Minimal complications adverse events noted. Improved rates noted four out five studies when compared regimes. One study showed reduced risk distant recurrence. Significant heterogeneity all studies. Conclusion safe modality, superiority over conventional treatment has yet demonstrated. Current inadequate quality preclinical clinical settings.

Rectal cancer is the second most common cancer in large intestine. The prevalence and the number of young patients diagnosed with rectal cancer have made it as one of the major health problems in the world. With regard to the improved access to and use of modern screening tools, a number of new cases are diagnosed each year. Considering the location of the rectum and its adjacent organs, ma...

According to the current European Association for the Study of Liver guidelines, transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) is the recommended first-line therapy for patients with intermediate-stage (Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer-B class) hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The efficacy of this therapy is supported by robust evidence; however, there is still a lack of standardization in treatment metho...

PURPOSE For patients with unresectable colorectal liver metastasis (CRLM), transarterial embolization with the use of drug-eluting beads with irinotecan (DEBIRI) represents a novel alternative to systemic chemotherapy or local treatments alone. The present systematic review evaluates available data on the efficacy and safety of DEBIRI embolization. MATERIALS AND METHODS A comprehensive search...

PURPOSE In hepatocellular carcinoma patients with large or multinodal tumors, where curative treatment options are not feasible, transarterial therapies play a major role. Transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) with drug-eluting beads (DEB-TACE) is a promising new approach due to higher intratumoral and lower systemic concentration of the chemotherapeutic agent compared to conventional TACE (cT...
